My niece was losing her battle with the summer heat, so I invited her to Izakaya Musashi. I had been meaning to get out into the busy Katamachi area anyway, but I was fighting the summer heat myself and couldn’t work up the strength to get anything done.
As usual, Musashi was crowded. As I waited for my niece to arrive, I ordered a beer and looked at the menu. Musashi has its standard menu written up on a blackboard, but the daily recommendations are written on a separate handwritten menu, and that’s the interesting one. I decided on a mixture of Chinese- and Western-style items.
The master at Musashi is special and one-of-a-kind kind of chef. His father enjoyed gourmet dining while working another job and finally decided to trade it all in and open his own restaurant. The son has surely inherited his father’s DNA.
