La Maison de Mizuki is a pastry shop run by two beautiful sisters. It’s a modest pastry shop, but it’s a part of the local community, frequented by men and women, young and old. Today, my father, who lives nearby, asked, “Want to get a piece of cake or something?” and we soon ended up seated at the counter. Dad had the shortcake; I ordered something made with “marron,” an autumn specialty, but I can’t remember the name. With Chinese food, no matter how long the name, I always remember, but with French pastry, I just can’t.
From the Omi-cho market, walk about halfway to the Higashiyama Chaya district, near the Hashiba-cho intersection. It’s a perfect place to take a short break while strolling around Kanazawa.
